Who We Are

(Last updated 11 January 2006)

PEP's mission statement has been revised to take account of the recent merger with Muirhouse Six Circle

PEP's Mission Statement

To enhance the quality of life for older people in North Edinburgh by continuing to develop services that measurably reduce isolation and which enable older people and other vulnerable and isolated adults to actively participate in community life

PEP's Ethos

PEP is committed to an inclusive culture of continuous improvement and to working in partnership with older people, local organizations, statutory agencies and other relevant national organisations. PEP is committed to equality and accessibility for all. At all times PEP seeks to deliver quality services and high standards in all its dealings with older people and other vulnerable adults

PEP'S History

PEP has been in existence from the beginning of 1989, originally funded through Urban Aid and latterly, jointly funded by the Education & Social Work Departments of the City of Edinburgh Council. PEP is currently establishing a three years Service Level Agreement with the Social Work Department. We also receive project funding from the 'Big Lottery Fund', NHS Lothian and Lloyds TSB as well as a grant from the Pilton Partnership, the local Social Inclusion Partnership.

In 2001 PEP merged with MAGNET, another local project delivering services for older people, and in 2006 merged with Muirhouse Six Circle to provide services for vulnerable and isolated adults.

PEP moved into its new premises at 3 West Pilton Park in April of 2004 and formally opened its Sensory Community Garden in September 2004.
